The Closet - "What the fuck, Richard?"
This book is a collection of unrecorded and previously unreleased songs by The Closet, a rock band I played in while in high school. After the group left school and went their separate ways for college and work, it naturally became increasingly more difficult to work on music together--thus the purpose of this book was twofold: The Closet's music was always recorded with DIY equipment on a high school student's budget, and as such the book was a unique way of releasing an "album" during a time when traditionally recording one would be difficult, allowing a listener (or perhaps "reader," in this case) to "DIY" their own version of the songs included within. Thick, drum-leaf bound pages and bright, pulp-comic-inspired illustrations invoke children's books and a sense of nostalgia, as well, reflecting the life stage the music was written in and acting as a unique memento of the band's time together.
